A recognisable, living brand
Use a short, responsive 3D story that represents language learning. Keep the school’s identity and educational purpose visible from the first screen.
A public-site audit, a proposed content architecture and a practical delivery plan for Erican’s next website.
Build a cinematic introduction around the idea “Step inside Erican.” Use the supplied Erican logo as the palette reference, with white and pale content sections, deep blue typography and feature panels, small yellow accents and the logo’s existing red detail. As the visitor scrolls, Erican’s own reception, classroom and illuminated feature-wall photographs transition smoothly, accompanied by a different message and floating language-learning elements for each chapter. Follow the opening with a fast, clear path to the right programme and a counsellor.
Use a short, responsive 3D story that represents language learning. Keep the school’s identity and educational purpose visible from the first screen.
Organise choices around children, adults, international students and exam goals. Explain acronyms after the plain-English name.
Choose a programme, understand the offer, find the right centre and enquire. Make placement tests a useful alternative entry point.
Updated visual preference: introduce white space throughout the content sections, retaining Erican blue for text and selected panels, with restrained yellow accents. Working audience assumptions: balanced priority and programme discovery followed by enquiry. These can be adjusted after the first review.
Erican already has useful foundations: a substantial programme range, placement tests, international admissions, student support and a regional centre network. The redesign should preserve those capabilities and make them easier to understand. The issues below are observations from public pages, followed by proposed remedies.
| Priority / observation | Evidence and visitor impact | Recommended action |
|---|---|---|
| HIGH Navigation mixes different tasks | The homepage navigation has programme acronyms, nested adult courses, admissions, three tests, payment links, careers, agents and China-region content. Payment navigation repeats the programme list. | Use five core destinations: Programmes, Why Erican, Study in Malaysia, Centres and Contact. Put Tests, Apply and Pay in a secondary utility layer. Retain careers, partners and China pages in relevant hubs and the footer. |
| HIGH Course discovery needs a consistent structure | The course directory is image-led with repeated “Learn More” labels. The homepage’s International English teaser shares a destination with Business English in the extracted links; verify the intended destination. | Build an accessible text-based directory with audience filters and direct course names. Validate every existing CTA and redirect during migration. |
| HIGH Enquiry asks for many details | The contact form asks about Malaysian status, centre, title, full name, gender, nationality, mobile, email, message and courses. This creates a long first-contact task. | Start with name, preferred contact, programme and centre when relevant. Collect further admissions details later. Validate the actual submission and counsellor handoff before release. |
| HIGH Centre information conflicts | The centres page lists KLCC at unit C-10-5; the shared footer gives C-1-1 at the same development. | Have an operational owner confirm the correct office and teaching-centre addresses. Store contact details once and reuse them across the website. |
| HIGH Admissions content needs verification | The admissions page contains empty bank-detail fields and specific visa timing and document guidance. | Verify the full admissions process with Erican’s team before rewriting or migrating it. Keep sensitive documents out of a general enquiry form. Review current requirements with the responsible admissions owner. |
| MEDIUM Programme facts need consistency | The International English page says six levels but names five in its summary list. Other course pages mix descriptive copy and payment entry. | Use a shared course template: audience, outcomes, levels, format, duration, schedule, centre, fees or enquiry, next intake and FAQs. Confirm every value rather than inferring missing facts. |
| MEDIUM Dates and claims need an owner | The homepage navigation shows both Winter Camp 2026 and Winter Camp 2027. The homepage reports 400,000 learners and more than 50 nationalities. | Use one authoritative camp record with dates and expiry. Get dated approval for statistics, awards and examination-centre statements. Do not invent new totals or success rates. |
| MEDIUM Trust can be closer to decisions | History, testimonials and student services have dedicated pages; the homepage relies heavily on course slides and feature lists. | Bring approved learner stories, real classroom photography and concise teacher information into the relevant course journeys. Obtain current permissions and verify every quoted outcome. |
These observations are not measured conversion losses, a security assessment or a complete accessibility audit. No analytics, Search Console, CMS or payment system access was used.
| Visitor | Main question | Proposed journey |
|---|---|---|
| Parent / young learner | Is this right for my child, and can we attend? | Kids & teens → learning approach → level / format → nearby centre → parent enquiry. |
| Teen / exam candidate | How will this support my English or exam goal? | Cambridge / IELTS → outcomes and entry guidance → programme details → placement or counselling. |
| Adult learner | Will this help my confidence and fit my routine? | Conversation / grammar / business → level and format → current schedule → enquiry. |
| International student | Can I study in Malaysia, and who will support me? | Study in Malaysia → International English → verified costs and intake → admissions → support → enquiry. |
| Corporate training buyer | Can you train my team for a specific need? | Corporate English → training outcomes → delivery options → brief the team. |
| Existing student | Where do I take a test, contact my centre or pay? | Utility navigation → relevant test, centre or existing payment workflow. |
Keep the first release focused on the pages that help people choose and enquire. Preserve the remaining content through explicit migration decisions and redirects.
Preserve useful, established URLs where possible. Where a URL changes, map each old slug and numeric ?page_id= address to its exact replacement with a permanent redirect. Keep existing payment and placement-test workflows until their replacements pass full acceptance checks.
| Current pages | Proposed treatment |
|---|---|
/courses/ and programme slugs | Retain stable paths; replace directory and detail templates. Use audience categories as filters rather than duplicate competing pages. |
/legacy/, /eric/, /trust/, /testimonials/ | Keep content under a coherent Why Erican hub; consolidate only with a page-specific redirect plan. |
/admissions/, /apply-now/, /student-service/ | Separate guidance, application and support while linking them clearly from Study in Malaysia. |
/ourcentres/, /contact-us/ | Use shared centre records and route enquiries by verified programme and location. |
/for-young-learners/, /for-teen-learners/, /for-adult-learners/ | Preserve entry URLs. Audit question delivery, accessibility, consent, scoring and result handoff before replacing tests. |
/winter-camp/, /4561-2/, careers, agents, China region and gallery | Confirm owners and active content. Rename the news URL only with a redirect. Archive expired campaigns intentionally. |
Use oversized, clear typography and generous spacing across spacious white and softly tinted surfaces, with deep Erican blue for typography and immersive feature sections. The surface palette is: the header, programme section, statistics, getting-started guide, FAQs and footer use white or pale backgrounds. Programme tiles are mostly light, with a blue Cambridge English tile providing visual contrast. The hero uses a white canvas with actual Erican premises photography. Keep the experience artwork, Malaysia feature panel and final contact section blue. Use logo yellow sparingly for small icons, highlights and accents; use dark blue or slate text on white for readability. Use large typography, an animated multilingual ribbon, dimensional lettering, animated programme tiles and scroll reveals to carry the visual direction throughout the site. The header and footer now use the supplied original logo, unmodified.
The reception photo welcomes visitors into Erican. Large blue typography, a small yellow highlight and a clear programme link introduce the school.
Scroll to dissolve gently into the classroom image. An alphabet flashcard, listening waveform and “I can.” speech bubble connect the space to language practice.
The final reveal brings Erican’s illuminated round logo and feature wall into focus. “Let’s talk.” and “Hello, world.” bubbles frame the photograph, before the story leads into programme discovery. Upward scrolling reverses the sequence.
Hero direction updated 13 October 2026: replaced the fragment animation with whole-photo dissolves and floating language-learning elements. Uses the same three photographs supplied by Erican. Other homepage sections remain as previously reviewed.
The supplied Dribbble collection informed the visual approach. Zajno’s educational concept demonstrates how a central 3D subject can carry an educational narrative; ThreadLab’s concept connects visual treatment to a staged journey. Erican’s narrative and assets here are original. Dribbble images are not reused.
The prototype is a design review tool. It does not include the full migrated website, an admissions backend, a CMS, new placement-test scoring, live payment processing, translated pages or live intake/fee data. Contact links are real external handoffs. Statistics are retained as attributed existing-site claims pending Erican’s verification.
Historical benchmark from 2 October. The sculpture proposals below have since been superseded for the hero by Erican’s three-photo premises sequence (7 October); they remain background design research.
The next Erican iteration should strengthen the visual story: one recognisable language sculpture, connected scroll transitions and larger imagery, supported by a direct route to programmes. The current mockup establishes the palette and interactions; this is the proposed next design pass.
| Reference | Observed design choice | Erican application |
|---|---|---|
| Future experience | A large clock, pale surfaces, contour lines, serif text reveals and a tilted horizontal card sequence create a continuous visual narrative. | Use a blue glass speech sculpture against white. Connect the letters, conversation and doorway scenes through deliberate camera movement and material detail. |
| Main website | Oversized multilingual typography and large illustrated panels alternate with institutional content, producing varied scale and pacing. | Alternate quiet white sections with larger visual moments. Add approved Erican classroom and Kuala Lumpur imagery to connect abstract language visuals to the learning experience. |
| Programme presentation | The Future cards describe learner outcomes and move through a staged sequence. | Keep Erican’s useful audience filters and readable tiles. Give each programme a distinct visual idea and a clear learning outcome; use short entrances and controlled hover motion. |
| Institutional confidence | The homepage prominently presents leadership, teaching credentials, accreditation, statistics and student stories. These are the competitor’s own claims. | Add Erican’s verified credentials, real teachers and approved student stories. Place a compact proof section near programme discovery, with deeper evidence available separately. |
A word → a conversation → a world of possibility. Begin with a blue glass speech form on white. Scrolling gathers letters into a greeting, then opens the composition into an Erican learning scene. Follow with programme tiles, real learning stories, international student life and a clear enquiry route.
Keep body text dark and readable, shorten decorative scroll stretches, and provide a still fallback, motion controls and direct navigation. The competitor’s light grey text and lengthy pinned scenes are tradeoffs to evaluate, rather than automatic targets.
Desktop visual review: 2 October 2026. Reviewed both supplied pages in a browser. The main homepage’s opening media remained blank in this session, so its opening motion was not assessed. The Future clock, text transitions, card sequence and philosophy imagery rendered. This review does not establish conversion performance, mobile quality, accessibility compliance or the validity of accreditation and numerical claims. These proposals have been added to the plan; the homepage prototype has not changed during this review.
Indicative planning range: 8–12 weeks with a small dedicated team and timely content decisions. Scope, integrations and translations may change this range. This is a planning estimate, not a delivery commitment or budget quote.
| Phase | Deliverables | Completion gate |
|---|---|---|
| 1 · Discovery Weeks 1–2 | CMS and URL inventory, analytics baseline, audience priority, centre/course fact sheet, enquiry routing, integrations list and content ownership. | Erican validates requirements, current claims, operating details and success measures. |
| 2 · Design Weeks 2–4 | Homepage motion direction, programme and centre templates, mobile layouts, international journey, copy and image brief. | Test representative journeys with parents, adult learners and international prospects. Review legibility, comprehension and accessibility. |
| 3 · Build Weeks 4–8 | Production frontend, structured CMS, course/centre content, enquiry workflow, analytics events and integrations in staging. | Each end-to-end journey works and reaches the correct team. Confirm CMS stack after inspecting the current WordPress/Divi environment and editor needs. |
| 4 · Verify & migrate Weeks 8–10 | Approved content, redirects, metadata, sitemap, form and payment checks, mobile performance, keyboard and screen-reader review. | No broken critical journeys, unresolved facts or missing redirects. Verify rollback and backup. |
| 5 · Release & improve Weeks 10–12 | Controlled launch, indexability checks, staff handover and initial measurement. | Enquiries reach the right recipients; monitor crawl errors and compare journey completion with baseline. |
Audience priorities; approved brand files; confirmed programme levels, formats, schedules, fees and intakes; a verified centre directory; current accreditation wording; approved learner media; the enquiry team’s routing and response process; CMS access; analytics; payment and placement-test ownership; required languages and budget.
Reviewed the homepage’s rendered layout and public navigation, plus the page content linked below. This is a qualitative sample of key journeys, not an exhaustive crawl of every page or a measurement of speed, rankings, accessibility compliance or conversion performance. Direct automated retrieval was blocked, so review used browser-rendered content and the web reader. No forms, quizzes or payments were submitted.
